"I have been an artist my entire life," says Carola Grimm.

Born in Toronto, Carola is a self-taught award winning painter and sculptor
currently working and living in Muskoka.

Her works range from paintings on canvas to large sculptures and more
recently, painting and sculpture combined to create three dimensional wall
paintings.

"Since I don't have formal training, I am not limited by the rules and
rather, I am highly experimental and love to push the limits of the materials
as well as the my own limits,"  

Her current work in painting challenges the viewer in a whole new way, and her birch trees seem to jump right off the canvas.  "I love the strong and simple shapes and energy of trees." As well, Carola is working on a new series of abstract paintings which combine her love of colour and the joy of experimenting in a spontaneous way. "I just need to look out my studio window for all the inspiration I need."

Carola's work is currently featured at Red Canoe Gallery in Port Carling.
