Biography

• Married, with 4 sons, age 21 to 27

• Teacher /librarian, grades 2 to 13 (OAC)

• Taught philosophy ,grades 11 to OAC

• Have written poetry since childhood (several published)

• Retired and began drawing/painting with friend Beverley Hawksley , in 2004.

• Watercolors, acrylic paint, multi media (collage)

• Work primarily now with acrylic paint, acrylic inks, gold, copper and silver foil and inks.

• My work is primarily abstract, however, some are representational. e.g. landscape . Quite a bit of textured mediums, gels, gloss, molding paste, coarse mica, garnet, opal glazing, iridescent inks and interference techniques are used.

• Palette knives, scrapers, hairdryer, fingers, just about any gadget is fair game, (sometimes a paint brush)

• A unique aspect to my work is that each painting includes a poem specific to that piece of work. Sometimes the poem comes first and sometimes the painting presents the emotional connection.

• I believe each piece comes from a place deeply held in my being simply waiting to be revealed. The poetry echoes or resonates my personal commitment. Naming each work confirms my artistic intent and integrity.
