| In
a realistic style, using oil on canvas, or casein and
oil on Masonite and manipulated acrylic sheet, my work
takes a larger than life look at the ordinary. I take
what I learn, observe and experience, and apply it to my
artwork, using this as inspiration to create work that
reflects times of transition, such as changes in our
surroundings and in ourselves.
A common theme
through my work is the juxtaposition of the new with the
old, by using worn seashells, still life's, dragonflies
or butterflies with weathered wood, antiques and
escutcheons. I work from a combination of life, memory
and photographs to capture and explore the effects of
shadows in order to create dramatic compositions.
I'm always
striving to striving to start the next project and experiment
with my mediums. Each new piece becomes for, and leads
me to the next. For me, this is a process that involves
growth, change, and the ever-constant need to move
forward. |
