Dave Carter was born in Montreal
Quebec in 1954. He moved to Scarborough, Ontario in 1969 with his
parents. In 1980, Dave married and nine years later moved to
Bracebridge, Ontario with his wife Debbie and their children.
Dave is a Canadian artist who
began painting in 1978 after a brief introduction to oils by his uncle
and life long friend J. Reigert. In those early years, landscapes
captured his imagination and dominated the canvas where he created
beautiful detailed oils on a variety of surfaces. A naturally talented
and self-taught artist, many of Dave’s landscapes hang in the homes
and offices of family and friends in Canada and the United States.
In 1993, Dave devoted his full
time to his family and profession and did not paint again for twelve
years. In 2004, with a renewed passion for art, he began experimenting
with acrylics and watercolours. He joined Muskoka Arts a& Crafts in
2005 and began doing charcoal and acrylic portraits. Dave has
rediscovered, in a somewhat freer format, the themes of wildlife and the
beautiful countryside that surround him.
