The Chapel Gallery is administered and funded by Muskoka Arts & Crafts. It is a not-for-profit community art gallery dedicated to the presentation and development of contemporary visual art by artists from the membership, immediate area, region, and nation. The programming mandate of the Chapel Gallery focuses on the presentation and encouragement of artistic expression in all media by emerging artists to established artists. Work may be artistically and/or conceptually traditional, experimental, innovative, or avant-garde in its rendering and/or approach.
To be considered, an application must include the following:
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that his or her application contains all the requested material and information and is received by the Chapel Gallery on or before the deadline.
In the review and assessment of applications, the Gallery Committee places high priority on artistic quality. Peer assessment – through the members of the Gallery Committee who are artists and/or other experts with knowledge and experience of the specific art forms, art practices and communities involved – ensures that the arts community has a voice in how applications are evaluated and the types of art exhibited. Acceptance for an exhibition and its scheduling is at the sole discretion of the Gallery Committee in accordance with the Chapel Gallery Policy.
Muskoka Arts & Crafts raises all its own funds. We receive no grants from any level of government. While the organization recognizes the importance of artist’s fees, it is not in a financial position to offer such fees. Muskoka Arts & Crafts is responsible for: promotion of the show (media releases to newspapers as well as radio and television stations); providing camera ready copies of invitations, posters, or flyers if requested by the artist; sales; and preparation of exhibition labels, price lists, handouts. The artist is responsible for: an artist’s reception (if desired); printing and mailing invitations (if desired); printing and distributing posters/flyers (if desired); additional paid advertisements (if desired); and the transportation of the work to and from the Chapel Gallery.
May 15 of the current year for the following year.
Once your application is received, you will be notified and informed when your proposal will be reviewed by the Gallery Committee. After your proposal has been discussed, you will be contacted, by mail, about its status.
