Special Programs & News

Presented by: Stan, the Library Philosopher
Date & Time: Wednesday, August 25, 7:00pm
Location: Gravenhurst Public Library

A Philosophers’ Café is an informal, open discussion for those interested in exploring important and contemporary questions in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Join us for a “Philosophers’ Café” on the meaning, nature, purpose, and fascination of   the Public Library, one of our most enduring public institutions. What is the future of the Gravenhurst Public Library and why does it matter? Come and help us imagine.

Some of the questions to be considered are:

  1. What does the public library mean to you?
  2. Have you ever had a life-changing experience in a public library? Was it due to the world of books?
  3. What do you love about the Gravenhurst Public Library?
  4. With all the changes in technology where do libraries go from here?
  5. Does the public library function as creative space?

Public libraries are: "free parks with a brain, providing education brilliantly disguised as leisure."        - Susan Dominus
