Let's go back to the Castle

Hi Children My name is Chester the Jester let me explain how to get a Library Card

How do I get a library card? It's easy and free! Just come to the library and fill out a registration form. If you are 13 years of age or younger you will need your parent or guardian's signature on the form.

How old do I have to be to get a card? If you are three years of age or older and live, or go to school in Gravenhurst, you may have a Gravenhurst library card.

What can I borrow? You can borrow all of the material in the library; however we do suggest that you borrow age appropriate items.

How many items can I borrow? You can borrow as many items as you want to read! If you are taking out books for a school project, please select the best two books you can find and leave the rest for other children studying the same subject.

How long can I keep the things I borrow? Most of the material borrowed from the library is due back in three weeks. DVD, CDs and videos have a loan period of 7 days.

What about overdue fines? If you keep your library material past the loan period without renewing, the fines are 20 cents a day on each item, every extra day you have it past the due date. We have a maximum fine of $3.00 per item.

Who can use my card? Only you can use your library card and you must present it each time you come to the library to borrow materials.

I've lost my library card, what should I do? If you lose your library card there is a $3.00 replacement charge. Take care of your card and never lend it to anyone. You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card.
