ARTISTIC STATEMENT

The paintings are based on a woman’s passion and strength as she explores the spiritual side of life.

The distinctive mood of Susan’s paintings evokes an immediate response. With a style rich in colour she captures a spirit that is imaginative, playful, and sensitive. Susan applies bold, confident brush strokes to convey emotion, using oil, acrylic, or mixed media. Colour, for Susan represents elements of artist expression, a language.

With each painting, Susan first works on developing the message. In doing so she transfers her heart, and soul with passion. She believes her art reflects a silent story, and by the use of colour, and texture that will touch, and connect with the emotions of the viewer. Her hope is to share, give to each canvas a voice for the person to see, to feel, her sense of vision. The poet in her expresses the thoughtful mood. Her abstract paintings bring into play the fantasies that explore her inmost self such as simplicity of life, landscape, and imaginary freedom.

THE ARTIST

Susan Eck, is a new emerging Contemporary Visual Artist. The late 1990’s marked the dawn of new journey and means of expression for Susan. After experiencing several personal loses, she turned inward for spiritual direction, searching for her own truth. This provided an extraordinary opportunity to revisit her dreams. Susan’s goal was to immerse herself into her art work.

Her paintings demonstrate the wide range from landscapes to abstract expressionist paintings.

Susan pursues other artist expression through poetry, and song writing. In 2003, she won an honour award in song writing from the Great American Song Writing Contest and in 2001, she won first place in a USA songwriting contest for "Finally Over You" and in that same year her painting "Fantasy & Truth" won award of Excellence for Mixed Media by Muskoka Arts and Crafts. Susan has won many awards for her poetry in North America.
