BIOGRAPHY
Christine was born in Bracebridge and has been actively
creative, painting and drawing from a very early age. Following school in
Muskoka, she left to pursue a life in financial services and world travel.
She returned to Bracebridge to marry and have her first son. It was after
the death of her second son and encouragement from her husband that she
took her first stained glass course. A daydreamer and quick study, she
taught herself as much about glass as possible. Christine is now a
partner, with her husband, in a successful art in architecture business -
ARTIFEX - as well as being a full time mom to two wonderful boys.
ARTISTIC STATEMENT
Sometimes it seems I just can't get enough of working with
glass - I just live it. I am especially drawn to the beautiful colours, shapes,
forms and styles of glasswork from foiling and leading to etching, slumping and
fusing, and most recently, murini making. I design from my gut - with a 'no art
police' sign in my head. Glass is especially interesting as there are no two
pieces that are exactly the same - which when worked bring life and colour to
the original sketches that I create. I especially love doing commissioned work
where I am able to intertwine client's creative ideas with mine. I am far from
finished with learning, for as an explorer, I love to learn new techniques and
combine mediums. Similar to public school when I was critiqued for daydreaming,
I have no shortage of ideas in my mind - but finding the time to do them is my
challenge as I balance my love for life, my home, studio, husband and two sons.
