| Miranda Britton received her
BFA in Visual Art from Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University in 2001.
While studying at SFU she concentrated on drawing, sculpture,
installation and theatrical set design. Following graduation, she
returned home to Muskoka where she worked for her family’s newspaper
business for several years.
In 2006 she returned to school to study jewellery design and
fabrication at the Haliburton School for the Arts. This program provided
Miranda with a strong foundation in traditional jewellery-making
techniques, while allowing her the freedom to experiment with metal, a
material that had always intrigued her.
Using a variety of hand fabrication techniques, Miranda manipulates
silver, gold, copper and brass into pieces of jewellery that integrate
found objects and semi-precious stones. Fulfilling a desire to create
work that can be touched and worn, Miranda creates small scale pieces of
art for the body using clean, simple shapes and lines that accentuate
the human form.
Miranda continues to explore drawing and is also producing two
dimensional mixed media pieces that integrate photography, drawing and
painting. |
