On Thursday October 3rd, Author Tom MacGregor will be the featured guest at the Gravenhurst Public Library, between 7:00 and 8.30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend this free event to hear Tom read from his books and answer questions on his various writing and publishing experiences.

Tom MacGregor is an Ottawa-based journalist, poet and playwright. After graduating from Queen's University, he worked for his home town newspaper The Huntsville Forester, The Edmonton Sun, Maclean's Magazine and several government offices in Ottawa. Since 1989 he has worked for the Legion Magazine where he is currently the News Editor.

Tom is the author of two collections of poetry, Poems from a Shoebox (2001) and Directions to the Cottage and Other Poems (2005) both published by Wallbridge House Publishing of Belleville, Ont.  His plays The Pogey Papers and The Windigo have been produced professionally at the Perth Summer Theatre and he has had several amateur productions at the National Press Club of Canada in Ottawa.  He is a regular speaker for the Encounters with Canada program and was the recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Medal in 2002.

While the meeting on October 3rd is open to anyone who is interested, Mr. MacGregor is the guest of the Blank Page Writers’ Group at their regular monthly meeting.  If you enjoy writing and sharing your work, you might want to consider joining the Blank Page Writers’ Group.  The meeting is held on the first Thursday of each month at the Gravenhurst Public Library between 7.00 and 9.00 p.m.

The previous monthly meeting of the Blank Page Writers Group was held on September 4th.  Ten members of the Group played host to seven members from the Mariposa Writers’ Group of Orillia.  The purposes of this most successful exchange visit were to meet other local writers, experience their expertise and learn about new markets.  Six Mariposans read from their works that ranged from fiction to non-fiction, and from history to suspense.
